 Graham
McGeoch I have been a GP for many years but now see people on
referral from their own general practitioner for minor surgery and
musculoskeletal second opinions I also see people for diving
medical examinations and medical problems related to diving.
When not at the Medical Centre, I may be at the Hyperbaric Medicine
Unit, Christchurch Hospital. I live in Governors Bay with my wife,
and I have two sons. One is a pilot in Queenstown and the other is
at university in Dunedin. I dabble in a number of activities
including gardening, biking, fishing, skiing and
diving.

 Peter Davies I
am a British born New Zealander with two children. I enjoy all
aspects of general practice, especially caring for children. I
believe in the benefits of good diet, regular exercise and
immunisation. I try not to keep patients waiting, so endeavour to
run on time (unless waylaid by an emergency). To achieve this I need
people to attend for their appointments on time also. When not
working, I enjoy sport, the outdoors and writing comedy. I
contribute a regular humour column for a Doctors newspaper and have
done some writing for television and radio.

Rosemary Ford While I enjoy many aspects of
Family medicine my particular interests are Women's Health and
Natural Medicine. I am familiar with Herbal
and Nutritional medicine which has been a special interest of
mine for many years. I also prefer
to use Bio-identical Hormone Replacement Therapy, where
appropriate, to achieve the lowest effective treatment,
particularly for menopausal and some other gynaecological
problems. I am a Fellow of the Royal NZ College of General
Practitioners. At home in Tai Tapu, Mike and I
are re-vegetating a large area of wetland and our latest
project is 290 metres of native stream-side planting which has been
re-contoured by ECAN. The ducks and pukekos are
multiplying. Our organic hazel-nut orchard has been masses of
work and we are still waiting for a decent
crop! Time spent with our three children
and six grandchildren is very precious.

 Jonathon
Chambers I did my medical degree through the Otago Medical
School, qualifying in 1980. After two hospital-based years, I did a
variety of Locums around New Zealand before doing a diploma in
obstetrics and gynaecology in Auckland. In 1986 I did a General
Practitioner training year as well as working at Family Planning,
before joining the Barrington Medical Centre. I enjoy general
practice for the wide variety of people and the conditions we see
and treat. I particularly enjoy child health and treating children
but I do see people of all ages. Although working in a big medical
centre, I believe in the importance of continuity of care and having
a regular, family doctor. One of my hobby horses is punctuality
and I give a discount if I keep people waiting more than 15 minutes.
Emergencies do occasionally cause unavoidable delays but, for the
most part, I see people within five minutes of their appointment
time. Of course, for me to be punctual, patients have to be on time!
Outside of work, my passion is skiing but I also enjoy fishing,
scuba diving, tramping, drinking wine and watching a good
movie.

 Rebecca
Buchan I grew up in Christchurch and have lived in Somerfield
most of my life. I moved to Dunedin to go to
University and completed a science degree before studying
Medicine. After
graduating in 2003, I spent several years at Christchurch Hospital
before moving into General Practice. I
love working in General Practice because of the long-term
relationships you can form with patients and their families, and the
wide variety of conditions you treat. My special interests are
Child Health, Musculoskeletal conditions and Preventative
Medicine. When
not at work I enjoy reading, exercising, travelling and being a
mother.

 Kay Joyce I
qualified in the United Kingdom, graduating from London in 1988.
Initially I spent several years in hospital medicine before moving
towards training as a General Practitioner. I was a General
Practitioner at St Ives, a small Cornish fishing village in England
(now more famous for its beautiful beaches and modern art) for 10
years before moving to New Zealand with my family in 2004. In the
United Kingdom I was a GP trainer and a member of the Royal College
of General Practitioners. I was also on the board of directors of a
Sexual Health Clinic for young people. I enjoy working within
general practice and its variety of problems! When first in New
Zealand I worked for almost a year at the After Hours Surgery before
settling at Barrington. My specialities are family medicine,
preventative health care, sexual and women's health, but I am happy
to see most health problems. I try to be broad-minded in my
consultations and believe treatment options should be discussed and
negotiated, allowing patients to make informed choices in their own
health care.

 Annabel
Collecutt I was born in Nelson, gained my medical degree from
Otago in 1991 and took up General Practice in 1999. Although I
have enjoyed working and living in many different parts of New
Zealand, I am very pleased to be back in the South Island, having
moved here from New Plymouth in 2007. I have three children,
and we live in Spreydon which is nice and close to
work! Outside of work, I enjoy skiing and tramping and running,
but am quite keen on chilling out in a cafe also! I like the whole
spectrum of general practice and enjoy working with the experienced
team at Barrington.

Kumarapaapillai Having been born in Sri Lanka, then spending
most of my adult life in South Africa, and having made New Zealand
my home for the past four years, I find people endlessly
fascinating! I never tire of experiencing the different cultures,
the languages or the food, wherever I travel! Coming from a
strongly medical family (second of three generations of doctors!), I
enjoy all aspects of the GP world. My extensive experience working
in hospitals, both in South Africa and New Zealand, especially in
Paediatrics, allows me to be comfortable with all the different
facets of family health care. I love watching sports, playing
scrabble and attempting DIY projects around the house. Reading is a
lifelong passion. However, my husband is still my biggest passion,
while my daughter is my pride and joy!

 Sarah
Howard Having grown up on a Mid Canterbury farm, I then
shifted south to complete my Medical Degree at Otago School of
Medicine. After my first year of work I travelled with my husband to
the UK where we worked for three years. Most of the work I did
during this time was in Paediatrics. Following my return to New
Zealand, I moved into General Practice because of the wide variety
of people you meet and conditions you treat. I also enjoy the
long-term nature of the relationship between a GP and his/her
patients. This relationship provides me with the opportunity to work
with you to help make positive changes to your life. I believe
prevention is the best medicine and it is part of our job to help
you make informed decisions so that you can enjoy the best health
possible for you. I have a special interest in Paediatrics given
my pre GP experience, but I enjoy seeing patients of all age groups.
I do try to run on time as I realise how precious your time is. Some
days this is easier than others! My husband and I enjoy most
sports and outdoor activities. Our life has changed but has been
greatly enhanced with the addition of our daughter and
son.

 Joseph Lau
Malaysian by
birth, Chinese by descent, Kiwi by choice, I have been in New
Zealand since 1995. I studied in Burnside High and obtained my
medical degree from Otago. After spending five years working
in Christchurch Public Hospital in various medical specialties, I
moved into General Practice and have enriched my experience by doing
locum work at numerous clinics throughout Christchurch.
Following that, I am now delighted to be working amongst the
friendly and supportive team at Barrington Medical Centre.
Outside work, I enjoy eating good food (including my wife's
cooking), watching movies, working out at the gym and having regular
games of squash and
badminton. |

 Keith Marshall I have
recently arrived in New Zealand from Scotland. I was born and
bred on the island of Whalsay, a small fishing community in the
Shetland Isles. My medical school training was at Aberdeen
University, where I graduated in 2003. After this I had a
variety of hospital jobs around
Scotland (and a short stint at Hawkes Bay Hospital in 2004).
My GP training was based in Ayrshire, Scotland. I feel working as
a GP is a real privilege. I really enjoy the unique type of
contact and relationships that develop with patients over
time. I like to promote healthy living and helping people to
overcome their health issues and problems. Away from work, I love
football, tramping, snowboarding and being in the outdoors. I
am really looking forward to enjoying what New Zealand has to offer,
both inside and outside of
work.
