Doctors
Oliver Kiddle – Doctor
Originally from Nelson, I graduated from Auckland in 2000 and worked in Nelson and Masterton before travelling abroad with my wife. I subsequently completed General Practice training in the United Kingdom.
After having twins we decided it was time to get back to New Zealand and I joined the friendly team at Barrington Medical Centre. Since then I have gained Fellowship of the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners and enjoyed getting to know my enrolled patients.
I like all aspects of General Practice, particularly the variety the work entails and the continuity of care the job involves. When not at work I spend most of my time chasing after our three young children who love getting up to mischief. I also enjoy travelling, mountain biking and skiing, especially when it involves getting out into the great outdoors that New Zealand has to offer.
Rebecca Buchan – Doctor
I grew up in Christchurch and have lived in Somerfield most of my life. I moved to Dunedin to go to University and completed a science degree before studying Medicine. After graduating in 2003, I spent several years at Christchurch Hospital before moving into General Practice.
I love working in General Practice because of the long-term relationships you can form with patients and their families, and the wide variety of conditions you treat. My special interests are Child Health, Musculoskeletal conditions and Preventative Medicine.
When not at work I enjoy reading, exercising, travelling and being a mother.
Annabel White – Doctor
I was born in Nelson, gained my medical degree from Otago university in 1991 and took up General Practice in 1999, after several years of hospital work in New Zealand and a stint in the United Kingdom.
I have enjoyed living in many different parts of New Zealand, from Whangarei to New Plymouth to Dunedin, but am now happily settled in Christchurch with my three children.
Outside of work, I enjoy the outdoors, especially skiing, cycling and tramping, though also quite happy with less vigorous urban activities!
Work interests cover the whole spectrum, including inserting Jadelle implants.
Srimala Kumarapaapillai – Doctor
I was born in Sri Lanka, but grew up and did my medical training in South Africa.
However, after 14 years New Zealand is now home. I find people endlessly fascinating and enjoy all aspects of the GP world.
My extensive work experience in various hospitals both in South Africa and New Zealand in many different specialities, allows me to be comfortable with the different facets of family health care.
I love to watch sports, play scrabble and do puzzles. Reading and travelling are a lifetime passion. With my gorgeous daughter and handsome husband, I also take care of our 70 fish....and counting!
Joseph Lau – Doctor
Malaysian by birth, Chinese by descent, Kiwi by choice, I have been in New Zealand since 1995.
I studied in Burnside High and obtained my medical degree from Otago in 2002. After spending five years working in Christchurch Public Hospital in various medical specialties, I moved into General Practice and have enriched my experience by doing locum work at numerous clinics throughout Christchurch.
Following that, I am now delighted to be working amongst the friendly and supportive team at Barrington Medical Centre.
Outside of work, I am married with young children. I enjoy eating good food (including my wife's cooking), watching movies, working out at the gym and having regular games of badminton.
Kay Joyce – Doctor
I qualified as a doctor in the United Kingdom, graduating in 1988. I practised as a General Practitioner for ten years in St Ives, Cornwall, before moving to Christchurch in 2004. I love the variety my job gives me and am fortunate to work with a great, supportive team at Barrington Medical Centre.
I aim to give you good family doctoring, a non-judgemental approach and to involve you in the decision making around your health needs. I am keen for patients to take responsibility and control of their health with diet, exercise and mental health care.
Beyond medicine, I have a love of visual art, books and being outdoors.
Peter Davies – Doctor
I am a British born New Zealander and have lived here since 1992. I am married to a Southland girl and have two children. I split my time between Barrington Medical Centre and Diamond Harbour Surgeries and enjoy the contrast of urban and rural work.
I believe strongly in vaccination and encourage the use of evidence based treatments.
When not at work I enjoy walking the dog and watching movies.
