General practice and urgent care clinic

We are a team of General Practitioners and Practice Nurses, supported by a group of administrative staff. We are a Cornerstone accredited practice and are members of Pegasus Health. We assist people in the Barrington area to improve their health by the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of illness in a quality, caring, reassuring and supportive environment. Our nurses cover specialist areas, such as care of the elderly, child health, travel clinics, smear clinics,  asthma education, spirometry, sleep studies, diabetes, lifestyle and nutrition and skin clinics.

The  Medical Centre is situated in the Barrington Community Health Centre,  providing a wide range of health services on one site, including Optometry, Physiotherapy, Pharmacy, Laboratory, Acupuncture, Counselling and Dentistry.

Zoster (Shingles) Vaccine

Herpes zoster is commonly a painful and sometimes debilitating medical condition. As many as one in three people will have herpes zoster in their lifetime. From the 1st of April 2018, the Zostavax Vaccine became funded (free) for 65 year olds, with a catch up programme over 2 years for those aged 66 to 80 years old. Unfunded Vaccines are $240.00. Please book a nurses appointment with reception.

Influenza Vaccine

Influenza can be anywhere, so you can easily catch it, or spread it to other people. Flu Vaccines are now available. They are provided free for those who need it most and will be available all year. If you are pregnant, aged over 65, or are under 65 and have ongoing medical conditions, such as heart disease, stroke, diabetes, respiratory disease, kidney disease and some cancers, you will be eligible for a free vaccination. Unfunded vaccines are $30 or $20 for children under 6. Make your appointment online or ring reception.
